"Who am I?" is a question that many kids are being challenged to answer. To answer this question, we must first ask, "Who does God say I am?"
We live in a world where we put value in how many “likes” we have, and we place our worth in other people’s view of us. That can waver from day to day, but God’s view of us remains constant. Kids need to see themselves the way God does: as His beloved children. Our worth is not based on looks or performance but in our relationship with Jesus. We have to help kids remember who created them and constantly remind them that they are created in the image of God and because of that, they matter, they are loved, and they are enough!!!
We want to partner with parents to help kids grasp this. One of the ways we are doing this is through an event called SuperStart Preteen Weekend. The theme for this year is “Treasured” and the goal is to help 4th-6th graders learn that their true value and worth is found in God who treasures them. You can get more info about this event here.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9
